The Katara suite created by B&B Italia Contract Division for the luxury hotel Excelsior Hotel Gallia in Milano, received the European Tourism Oscar, the most important prize in the tourism sector, for the "World Leading Hotel Suite" category.
This is the "World Travel Awards ™", a recognition that since 1993 rewards and celebrates excellence in the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors.
The furnishing project of the hotel suite is part of the set of initiatives related to the hotel industry, which B&B Italia realizes to bring out its style, its quality and above all its uniqueness in the contract sector.
The intervention of B&B Italia Contract Division is based on a project by Studio Marco Piva and involved the public areas, located in the basement, ground floor, first floor, sixth, seventh and eighth floors, and the majestic suite, located on the seventh floor of the hotel.
Among the most significant interventions perform in the hotel, excluded the suite, B&B Italia has dealt with: in the basement, to provide a wine cellar and bathrooms for the public; on the ground floor to renovate and furnish the bar, the restaurant, the cigar room, the library, the pastry lobby, the main entrance; on the sixth furnishing the Spa and the coats of the swimming pool; at the seventh the Spa, the virtual golf, the bar, the restaurant, the theater, the elevator landing from the theater area to the Katara suite.
Absolute protagonists of the furnishings were noble materials such as marble and glass, the latter carefully selected within a wide range of proposals and used in black finishing, mirror gray or even serigraphed and back painted in various colors. Many glasses have been used as led lights diffusers thanks to which it has been possible to obtain warm and refined atmospheres.
The marble, which has always been valuable cladding that enhances the architecture, has seen a wide use from various types of Brown antique, to black marble with silver shades to include highly precious marbles such as the portoro, used for the exclusive bathroom of the suite.
