B& B Italia announced that the TOBI-ISHI table, designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, won the Design Awards 2013.
With an evident eastern inspiration as to both look and name, whose meaning recalls the ornamental stones of traditional Japanese gardens, TOBI-ISHI turns out as a surprising creation for many reasons.
First, it stands out for its shapes as the cantilever top and bases, apparently different depending on the looking perspective, and recall smooth stones.
To complete the unique character of the item there come the materials, i.e. a perfect mix of technology and handicraft, resulting from strong and careful experimentation. Actually, in order to reach the granite look so sought after, the bases were manufactured by combining Baydur, structural polyurethane foam and wood.
